Jake Owen’s Summer of Boating

Author: Guest Author

DB-004Hey guys, Jake Owen here again! I swear it was just June and I was telling you about what I was looking forward to this summer.

I’ve had an awesome time teaming up with Discover Boating again on the road and on the water. I feel so lucky that I get to share my passion for boating with my fans and encourage more people to get out on the water too.

JO_WakesurfingEarlier this summer, we had a blast boating on the Cumberland River in Nashville with a few media and some really cool fans. I’ll never turn down a chance to wakesurf, and it was even more fun that I got to teach these guys to ride—they were all naturals! Rolling Stone also came along for the ride and captured it beautifully in their boating photo gallery.

While I prefer spending my summer days out on the lake, rowing boats in the middle of New York City with the Huffington Post was pretty fun too. It was a nice change of pace from busy days on the road. I’ve also always wanted to try those remote-controlled sailboats in Central Park, so I was pumped when People NOW suggested we try racing them – check out the interview to see who won!

You better believe I spent some time on the water this summer with my friends and family. I was able to visit my cousins in Alabama and nailed a 360 flip on a challenge. I landed another one in Nashville – take a look. But, the summer’s on-water highlight was probably seeing my dad wakesurf for the first time. He beat cancer two years ago, so watching him go from a hospital bed and radiation to wakesurfing like a champ was incredible. Next up is the day I’ll get to teach my daughter Pearl how to waterski and wakesurf!Jake Owen_On Stage

I’m so fortunate that my job is to play shows for you all. While touring North America this summer with Kenny, we saw so many great cities and met tons of amazing fans. Whether you came out to a show, or caught up with me on social media, being able to connect with my fans is always a highlight.
